Steps to Success is the annual signature event of the Women’s Business Network. From its earliest beginnings, the vision and purpose of this day is to connect professional women and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.

As an attendee, you can design your day based on your interests. The WBN seeks out the best Facilitators, who lead small group discussions in a wide variety of topics that include business growth initiatives, women’s health, and personal development.

In these dynamic sessions, you will find yourself in a group of like-minded women who will support your desire for self-improvement. Each small group will take part in a professionally led discussion that is designed to INFORM each woman with tangible tools to accelerate the growth they desire.

As an integral member of your group, you will have the opportunity to ENCOURAGE your peers by sharing your insight around the experience you bring to the group’s focus. You will be given the SUPPORT you need to move forward as you take your next STEPS TO SUCCESS!

Managing the On-going Challenge of Change

Change is challenging. Whether choosing to make a change or facing an involuntary change, it’s not easy and is often stressful. This shortened version of her usual workshops will help participants clarify their desired change outcomes, identify various ways to find opportunities, recognize their subconscious responses to opportunities, and provide some critical tools and techniques for choosing ways to manage change to their benefit. The facilitator will share a S.W.O.T. Analysis for Change© she developed which will provide a lifelong evaluation tool when managing change.

At the completion of the session, participants will look at change with less distress and more confidence. Participants will learn one of the key elements for addressing a change and gain an awareness about accepting unfamiliar and uncomfortable opportunities. Additionally, participants will also walk away with a choices evaluation tool that will help them manage the outcomes of future changes to benefit their needs.

Even with an M.B.A. focused on strategic planning, Karen Justice gained most of her change management skills by living. Through frequent relocations and fluctuating life events, she learned early that things never stay the same. Managing her responses to imposed changes taught her to focus on what mattered most. Devising and planning proactive responses enabled her to maintain some control of how her life was impacted.

Justice has served as a strategic planning facilitator, teacher, non-profit manager, and more in nearly twenty different industries through twelve states and three countries.
With twenty-nine lifetime moves, she’s become skilled at managing change. Now she works at helping others develop those skills as well.

The COVID pandemic has taught small businesses how important it is to focus on an integrated brand and marketing approach. Creating and staying true to a strong brand both in a digital and non-digital world is what can set you apart and make your customers loyal buyers. In this session we will discuss ways to take your business brand and consistently (and creatively!) apply it to all facets of your marketing strategy.

Attendees will learn, and be able to apply, an easy 5-step plan for all their future branding and marketing endeavors. They will learn how content marketing is a quick and effective way to enhance their brand and brand voice and will be able to create an integrated marketing strategy for their business.

Breaking Through Your Limiting Beliefs

Have you been seeking personal elevation through books and various development programs? Do you follow certain motivational speakers? Maybe you’ve even attended conferences and left feeling like you were going to take on the world and make a massive impact in your life only to fall back into familiar patterns of doubt, fear, and procrastination resulting in self-sabotage. It’s not that you lack motivation, I know you are motivated! The problem is that most programs and speakers don’t address the critical piece, which is that you must clear your limiting beliefs first. All the negative energy around “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never achieve that level of success” is what is holding you back and keeping you stuck. When you can release those limiting beliefs, you become empowered and confident. It is then that you will soar and begin to create your life on purpose, by design.

You will learn how to reveal the limiting beliefs you are practicing and how they are dictating the thoughts you think, the things you say, and ultimately the actions you take.  You will understand the power that your beliefs have in determining all aspects of your life from parenting to your career to your financial situation and even your love relationships. My corporate background was in Risk Management in the Life Insurance sector and is an important part of my story because it gave me clarity about what I knew I didn’t want for my life. 

As I experience deeper meaning with the work I am now involved in, I know what is possible. When I was laid off three years ago, it was a blessing.  I knew I was miserable but didn’t really understand why.  Ultimately, I realized that I was not meant to live my life in a cubicle auditing files all day with no human interaction.  I also knew in my heart that I could not go back to a 9 to 5 job with a boss.  It would have been soul crushing.  I wanted time freedom AND financial freedom.  But how would I create that?  Could I truly create that?

On my journey over the past three and a half years, it wasn’t obvious why I was being pulled to embark on seemingly crazy ventures, but I trusted my intuition.  Looking back, it’s all crystal clear. Everything I was involved in pushed me further outside of my comfort zone for greater expansion.  Without that growth, I couldn’t be where I am today, and I wouldn’t change a thing.  

From the time I enrolled in the Freedom Formula certification program last August until now, I have completely transformed my life and I am enjoying the continual unfolding. The modalities I now practice allowed me to clear my own limiting beliefs and stand in my power with confidence. I now help others do the same with the goals of manifesting a new career or relationship, experiencing more financial abundance, and to simply and most beautifully experience joy and peace on new levels.

What does it mean to be a Breakthrough Specialist?  It means being able to help my clients solve frustrating, costly, painful, and seemingly impossible problems that they struggle with and haven’t been able to solve on their own no matter what they have tried.  Empowering people with clarity around the true knowledge of what is possible for them is my greatest gift. 

I earned my certification through the Freedom Leader Program, developed by Nick Breau, best-selling author, world-renowned Law of Attraction expert, and International Breakthrough Specialist.  My areas of focus include the Law of Attraction, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Ancestral Trauma.  I am currently enrolled in a program to incorporate Tapping, an Emotional Freedom Technique, as an enhancement in my practice.

Since April 2011, Angela has owned and operated Shepherd’s Staff In-home Care, an independent agency providing nonmedical in-home care to elderly clients. The passion for opening this type of business grew out of 10 years’ experience caring for her mother as she faced physical and mental decline.

Prior to this calling, Angela earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland and then spent many years working as a full-time homemaker and mother. During this time, she worked as a self-employed writer/editor, producing educational and promotional materials for a variety of clients, primarily in the nonprofit sector.

Angela has been married to her husband John for 45 years. They are the proud parents of six children and 24 grandchildren.

Build the Foundation for a Strong Team

When you have been part of a strong team, you know it. The team is working towards shared goals, supporting each other, and achieving results. How does that happen? It starts with a foundation of trust. There are three components to put trust in place.

One cornerstone for building trust is intention. Intention can be a tricky thing. We believe others should know our intention and we often misinterpret others. We will explore how to evaluate your own intention, how to set an intention, and how to make sure that others know your intention. Another cornerstone for building trust is relationships. How do you build relationships with the people you work with? We will complete activities to explore the concept of worldview to understand others, how you uncover clues that give you insight into others and practice the skill of acknowledgment. The final cornerstone for building trust is language and listening. We will discuss how language can positively or negatively impact trust. We will also give you an opportunity to practice your listening skills. You will identify one action item for something you want to work on over the next ten days based on our conversation of all three cornerstones of trust.
