Partnering your Business with your Community

Partnering your Business with your Community Lunchtime Speaker Series

Join us as we welcome guest speaker, Kim Dow, owner and creative director of Sass Magazine as she shares how to create a community and find your tribe (both personally and professionally). As a business owner or professional businesswoman, creating a supportive community is vital to creating sustainability and longevity. From volunteering your time to special causes that are important to you, to attending local events to meet new people and build relationships. On a personal note, it’s great to find those people that will both support you emotionally and occasionally provide you with referrals. Kim will share with us what this actually means when it comes to growing and supporting your business along with ideas that you can start implementing immediately to build a solid foundation for you and your business.

Kimberly Dow is the owner and creative director of Sass Studios, a graphic design and branding studio in the Frederick, MD region that works with a wide range of associations, publications and small businesses (mostly focusing on women-owned a pet-related companies).

She is an award-winning graphic designer who earned a BA, Summa Cum Laude, from Salisbury University in Maryland. An entrepreneur at heart, Kim also launched Sass Magazine, a quarterly women’s lifestyle and professional print magazine in the Frederick MD and surrounding regions, as well as, an online lifestyle resource serving women nationwide. She recently also launched Everyday Dog Magazine, an online resource for modern day dog lovers. She serves as the owner, publisher, and creative director for both publications.

Kim also finds creative outlets outside the studio. She is the co-founder and past artistic director of Equinox Dance Company, an all-adult modern dance troupe. She served as their vice president and marketing director, as well as a dancer and choreographer, and now offers design and support services. Kim is a past President of the AAF-Greater Frederick, former board director, and recipient of the organization’s coveted Crystal Prism Award. She was an Accelerator member of Her Corner and serves on the organizational committee for Women in Business, the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce’s program for women professionals. Kim was awarded the 2017 Entrepreneur Award for a start up business from the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as a 2018 Top 50 CEO.

When not at work, Kim can be found hanging out at home with her husband and high school sweetheart, Jimmy, who is a high school math teacher by day and motocross rider/fisherman by weekend. They share their Frederick home with their rescued animals, two pitbulls and a cat. In her spare time, Kim enjoys reading, traveling, hiking and gardening.

Please note: Cancellations after the Tuesday at midnight (week of the meeting) deadline and no-shows on the day of the meeting are not refundable.
