Jean Wright, President
Account Executive, Frederick Magazine
Jean has been working in sales and marketing positions for most of her career. She graduated with a BA degree in Communication Arts from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. Since moving to Frederick in 1993, Jean has worked as development director for a private school; sold memberships to local businesses for the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce; was employed as a local general manager for a global company; and is currently an account executive at Frederick Magazine. Jean is also a Leadership Frederick Class of 2013 graduate, and a member of the marketing committee of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Jean is currently working on her first book about her career in sales. She is a contributing member of The Spring Ridge Friends and Neighbors Club, which she founded 23 years ago. Jean and her husband Tom have two grown children who live in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Karen Smith, Vice President
Karen has been in the financial industry for over 25 years, working with individuals and small business owners in the accounting business she and her late husband owned. His sudden and unexpected death before the age of 50 made her realize that even though they were knowledgeable about finances, they were not prepared for this unexpected Life Event. That experience helped her realize the fragility of life and the importance of being prepared before one of life’s challenges arises.
Karen’s passion is to assist others in organizing, recording and reviewing the important documents that have a significant impact on the after-effects of a Life Event. Her upcoming book is her story of why she is so passionate about this today, and includes worksheets to create an inventory of legal, financial and insurance documents that can be used to recognize areas that need updated, as well as a priceless gift to loved ones that are left behind.
As a motivational speaker, Karen has spoken at various organizations within the DC area, including Maryland Society of Accountants, Maryland Women’s Conference, Women’s Business Network, and Wholistic Women Retreats.
Karen is a life-long resident of Maryland, and has lived in Frederick County for most of her life. She is a certified Life Coach through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC). She is involved in the community, serving in multiple positions on the board of Women’s Business Network, including President, Past President and Secretary/Treasurer; a member of the 2014 class of the Chamber’s Leadership Frederick County program; a member of Wholistic Women’s Retreats; and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. She and her current husband live in the Catoctin Mountains, and love to camp and travel, especially to the beautiful National Parks throughout the nation. She has have three adult daughters, two adult step children and 7 grandchildren.

Holly is a native of Williamsport, Maryland where she graduated from Williamsport High School, in 2005. Post graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army, where she served in Baghdad, during Operation Iraqi Freedom III, in 2006.
While stationed in Fort Hood, TX, she attended Central Texas College, completing her general education, before moving back to Washington County and attending Hagerstown Community College. She pursued her nursing degree in 2009 and began her medical career at Winchester Medical Center, in 2014. She has always strived to move into a rural area, which brought her career to Germantown Medical Center, in 2016.
Since, Holly has fell in love with the culture and community of downtown Frederick. It has brought great opportunity and friendships for her, including her relationship with her boyfriend, James. Together they are expanding his family accounting firm, where she serves as Administrator. They enjoy serving their community and spending quality time with their six year old, Jordan.
Debbie Bennett, Programs Chair

Debbie Bennett, a resident of Walkersville, has been a member of the Women’s Business Network for seven years. She has been on the board of directors for five years and will be serving as Programs Director in 2018. Debbie has been married for 36 years to Jeff Bennett, who served for 34 years with Montgomery County Fire & Rescue and has since retired. Jeff is currently working for Loudoun County Fire & Rescue. The couple have two children; a daughter, Dr. Carissa Smith and a son, Justin. Carissa is a Doctor of Pharmacy and is currently the Pharmacy Manager for Weis Supermarket. She had her first born, Lincoln, on January 17, 2018. Justin has a degree in Information Technology and is currently working for Experient in Frederick. He is enjoying his travels all over the US with his job.
Always active in the community, Debbie served for fourteen years as the Head Cheerleading Advisor for Walkersville High School and the Glade Valley Youth Group program. Debbie has been a representative in the Frederick News-Post magazines and websites for Mount Saint Mary’s University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2014.
Debbie is the Community Relationship Manager, Vice President, with First United Bank & Trust at the new Cannery Office. This office is considered “The Branch of the Future” and was the first technology branch for First United Bank & Trust. Debbie has extensive experience in financial services with a proven track record in sourcing new retail/commercial loans and deposit opportunities. A successful Relationship Manager known for exceeding sales goals through sales management and business development. Proven skill in reading and analyzing credit reports, personal financial statements and business loan applications. Debbie currently serves on the board for Women’s Business Network, the Downtown Partnership Committee, membership committee for the BNI Downtown Connectors, and a member of the Wholistic Women’s Group. Debbie applied for the Leadership of Frederick County in 2018.

Cheryl prides herself in offering a unique, individualized, consultative approach with each of her clients with a goal of enhancing their self confidence that often fades with age. Through Rodan + Fields, Cheryl has found the ability to create immense change and financial options for her and her family. She has found a new zest for life since beginning her own business and as her success has grown, she has been able to inspire and mentor others to do the same. Prior to discovering the opportunity with Rodan + Fields, she devoted her time to raising her four boys. Cheryl lives in Middletown with her husband, William, and three of her children: Mark, 19, Nico, 15, Chase, 6. Her oldest son, Shawn, 24, proudly serves in the U.S. Navy.

Karen Farrow is the owner and operator of Celebrated Events. Karen has organized events for corporations and non-profits, including silent auction/galas, ribbon cuttings, open houses, and ground breakings. She has coordinated many weddings over the years, as well as several milestone anniversary parties. Celebrated Events maintains excellent business relationships with area vendors, and is a member of the Frederick Area Bridal Network. She currently serves on the board of the Margaret Byrd Rawson Institute as Secretary Treasurer and chairs the Membership Committee for the Women’s Business Network of Frederick. Karen lives in Frederick with her husband, Jim, and has two adult children, Eric and Jennifer. She has three sisters and four brothers. She likes to hike, knit, and enjoys a good mystery novel.

Lisa has owned Clearview Car Care with husband Steve and son Mike for 10 years. They have two locations to serve clients here in Frederick. Originally from Silver Spring, Md, she and her husband have been married for 37 years ,and have 2 children, Crystal, Mike and one granddaughter Madison. She is also the President of a local BNI group here in Frederick. In her spare time she loves to hike, quilt and make goats milk soap. Additionally she enjoys her goats and chickens as well as learning bee keeping.
Stacy Reb, Member At Large
Stacy is a licensed insurance agent for Connie Phillips Insurance and enjoys helping clients with liability protection. With having a soft spot for seniors, she volunteers her time at local assisted living home. She is a southern Christian lady who enjoys adventure & outdoors! She believes in enjoying life and celebrating each day as a blessing. Loves summertime and being at the beach, traveling and riding motorcycles.
